Yes, the Ode urn is designed to safely burn a tealight, provided this is done with care. Always use a standard tealight in a metal holder and place it on the round wooden block that is included. This raises the tealight slightly within the urn, allowing the heat to dissipate more effectively.

Never leave a burning candle unattended and make sure the urn is placed away from flammable materials. By following these simple guidelines, the candle can burn safely and provide a warm, comforting light.

Of course, it is also possible to place a battery-operated candle inside.

The Ode urn is easy to maintain. By gently wiping it with a soft, dry cloth from time to time, it remains beautiful and well cared for.

The urn is intended for indoor use, in a place with a stable and dry climate. Because wood is a natural material, it can react to moisture, large temperature fluctuations, and direct sunlight. To prevent discoloration, drying out, or warping, we recommend not placing the Ode urn in humid areas, on a windowsill, or near a heat source.

With this simple care, the Ode urn can maintain its appearance and quality for many years.

In addition to the photo that comes with the Ode, it is also possible to have an engraving placed on the lid that seals the urn. This could be, for example, a name and/or a date.

The engraving is applied by us to the metal lid that seals the urn, placing it on the underside of the urn. This keeps the design of the urn calm and refined, while giving the text its own subtle place.

Each Ode urn is created by hand under the attentive guidance of Harm Rietveld and is shaped step by step, with a sense of detail and individuality. In this way, each piece develops into a unique memorial object—not only aesthetic, but also meaningful. Made with respect for the material, the process, and the memory it is meant to carry.

The Ode urn is made in such a way that you can easily open and close it yourself using the supplied key. Upon receipt, you will receive a small instruction booklet with clear explanations and illustrations, so that you can fill it calmly and step by step.

Whether you choose to fill the urn yourself is entirely up to you. Take time to feel what you need in this, and ask for help if that is what feels best for you.

Because the urn remains accessible, you can always return to it later. This makes it possible, for example, to use a portion of the ashes in the future for memorial jewelry or another keepsake.
